Born on the Canadian prairies, C. E. Tysdal now resides in Ladysmith, British Columbia.

The artist has been painting the landscape of Canada for over 40 years.

In the early years, Tysdal focused on industrial architecture and it's place in the landscape. Since completing a degree in landscape architecture, her work has included botanical illustrations, traditional landscapes and marine work. She often painted the coves and coastal features of BC from the deck of her sailboat. The work exhibits the crispness of a draftsperson and there is often a lightness, a type of humour, in her line work.

The artist is particularly fond of early Dutch landscape and floral techniques and their influence can be seen in her work.

Tysdal's work hangs in private and corporate collections throughout Canada and in the United States, Asia and Europe. A collection of her industrial work is held in the Canadian Heritage Collection.
